Hitachi to host first ever “Hitachi Social Innovation Forum in Vietnam”

Hi Chi Minh City, Vietnam, October 5, 2016 — Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, “Hitachi”) and Hitachi Asia Ltd. announced today that they are hosting the “Hitachi Social Innovation Forum in Vietnam” on 5 October 2016 at Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers. Mr. Tran Vinh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee will grace the event as guest-of-honor.

Through hosted exhibition and business seminars, the forum will showcase a broad range of solutions in Hitachi’s Social Innovation Business, which combines infrastructure and advanced information technologies. Customers, business partners, and major stakeholders in Vietnam will be able to have a better understanding of Hitachi’s key business fields such as information and telecommunication systems, transportation, smart cities, power systems and healthcare.

Delegates will also be able to hear from Hitachi speakers Mr. Ichiro Iino, Chief Executive for Asia-Pacific, Hitachi, Ltd., Mr. Akihito Ando, General Director, Hitachi Asia (Vietnam) Co., Ltd., Mr. Masaya Sakakibara, Senior Manager of Business Partner Department, Building Business Unit, Hitachi, Ltd., Mr. Kazuo Karasawa, Head of Sales & marketing Division, Railway Systems Business Unit, Hitachi Ltd., Mr. Son Tran, ICT Solutions Manager, Hitachi Asia (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. and Mr. Yasunori Nakayama, Division Director, International Sales Division, Water Business Unit, Hitachi, Ltd. They will share their views on Vietnam’s growth opportunities and challenges, and introduce some of Hitachi’s solutions such as the Kashiwa-no-ha Smart City, Railway Systems, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Water Solutions for collaborative creation. They stem from the view of Urban Development and Public Transportation supported by IT Systems.

The Hitachi Social Innovation Forum is Hitachi’s global flagship event, and this is the first time that it will be held in Vietnam as part of its business expansion plans in the country. In the recently announced 2018 Mid-term Management Plan, Hitachi targets to increase its overseas sales ratio to more than 55%. Vietnam will play an instrumental role in helping Hitachi achieve the target as Hitachi has been experiencing a steady growth in the country.

Hitachi remains very much committed in providing and supporting Vietnam through its areas of expertise such as ICT and urban development. For instance, Hitachi is working on a feasibility study with partners about non-cash payment system to create seamless transactions for customers. It also received an order for equipment on Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Line 1, and elevators and escalators order for its elevated stations. Upon completion of Line 1, it will help alleviate Vietnam’s rapid increase in traffic, which is all the more crucial given that Ho Chi Minh City’s economic growth is expected to accelerate further.
