Hitachi Group Honoured with Pinnacle Award from Community Chest

Highest accolade to donors of Community Chest, Hitachi gets award from Guest-of-Honour Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam

SINGAPORE, October 22, 2013 — Hitachi Asia Ltd. today announced that the Hitachi Group was honoured with Community Chest’s prestigious Pinnacle Award presented in ceremony on October 18, 2013. The highest accolade given to supporters of Community Chest, the award was presented to Hitachi by Guest-of-Honour Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam.

The award was bestowed to the Hitachi Group for its over 20 years of partnership with Community Chest and as recognition of its long standing contribution to the Singapore society. For the past 22 years and as part of its CSR efforts, the Hitachi Group has been making yearly donations to support the social service programmes under Community Chest. The giving is also in conjunction with Hitachi Group’s role as the main sponsor of the annual Christmas Light-up at Orchard Road.

With this recognition, Hitachi becomes one of the 20 organizations now part of the prestigious “Pinnacle Club Members” elevated to this honour.

In 2012, Hitachi gave S$220,000 which was a 10% increase from 2011. To date, Hitachi’s donation to Community Chest totalled S$3.8 million.

As a business, Hitachi launched the representative office of Hitachi, Ltd. in 1963. After establishing factories island-wide catering to various industries, Singapore is now Hitachi’s regional headquarters for the ASEAN region. To date, Hitachi in Singapore has 26 companies and employing over 3,100 people.
