Hitachi organizes the 11th Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative Final Selection Interview

Top 4 Students to Represent Thailand in Regional Forum to be held in Vietnam ~

Bangkok, August 10, 2011 – Hitachi Asia Ltd. recently conducted the 11th Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative (HYLI) final selection interviews in Bangkok, to select the top four students to represent Thailand in a regional forum to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 9 – 13 January, 2012. The four students were selected from a pool of 19 applicants and will join their counterparts from Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, The Philippines, and Vietnam at the event in Hanoi.

Held recently at the Plaza Athénée Bangkok (Royal Méridien Hotel), Wireless Road, the event was attended by Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra, together with panel members from Hitachi, leading public universities of Thailand and the local media. Mr Sukhumbhand is also the honorable chairperson of the 11th Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative Program “Thailand Student Selection Panel”.

Established by Hitachi, Ltd. in 1996, HYLI is a regional thought-leadership and corporate social responsibility programme which aims to identify Asia’s future leaders. The initiative offers an opportunity for top students in Asia to discuss key issues with prominent regional opinion leaders from the private, public and academic sectors.

Now on its 11th edition, HYLI will once again bring together the brightest Asian leaders to the regional forum in Hanoi to discuss and share their ideas on the theme “The New Stage for Asia – an Asian Perspective on Managing Sustainable Development and Economic Integration.” To encourage further discussion, two sub-themes have also been identified – “Energy and the Environment” & “Economic Partnership and Integration”.

The four selected students will be unveiled at a press event scheduled to be held at the end of October 2011.
