Together with the Hitachi Group of Companies (GoCs) in Singapore, Hitachi played Santa to a group of residents living in 1-room rental flats in Block 47, Owen Road, who rely mostly on the government’s support and other forms of charity. Working alongside our long-term partner, Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) yet again, and with the Moulmein-Cairnhill Constituency (MCC) for the first time, this CSR program started out with one objective – to make a difference in the lives of these residents. To this purpose, a donation drive was initiated on 1 October 2019, and the result was overwhelming. In all, Hitachi received monies from staff donation to purchase 190 mattress sets which included a pillow, foldable mattress and covers; as well as NTUC vouchers for the families and Popular Bookstore vouchers for the children...
The HYLI 2019 was held in Singapore from July 9-12, 2019. High level country selection panels chose 32 top student delegates to represent their countries at the program. The students were divided into four groups, each represented by at least one country representative. The students attended a series of plenary sessions, workshops, discussions and activities culminating with group presentations on their proposed initiatives for a sustainable future. The 15th edition of HYLI 2019 was designed to further develop the student participants’ perception and understanding of how digital transformation can help realize a sustainable society and improve the quality of life in the region.
For the 28th year running, Hitachi is proud to sponsor the Orchard Road Christmas Light-Up once again! This year’s Light-up started on 10 November and will end on 1 January. Asia’s most famous shopping street was transformed into a magical display of fairytales and whimsical wonderland. Orchard Road has become a visual feast of colours and lights lined with well-loved Disney characters, with trees on either side decorated with illuminated 3D Mickey Mouse icons to usher in the year-end festivities.
