IGEM 2012 was held from 10-13 October 2012 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia. Themed “Greentech for Growth”, this largest green exhibition in the region attracted more than 61,000 visitors from 61 different countries.
For the third year running, Hitachi showcased its leadership in green technologies and solutions as an exhibitor at IGEM. Visitors at the Hitachi booth were able to learn more about Hitachi’s suite of Smart City solutions in areas such as IT, energy and water. To further illustrate the Hitachi Group’s long-term sustainability goals, the booth also featured the Hitachi Smart City diorama and the Smart City video.
The Hitachi booth received close to 1,000 visitors throughout the four days of the exhibition. Esteemed visitors to the Hitachi booth included Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Peter Chin, Minister of Energy, Green Technology & Water, and Dato’ Mukhriz bin Tun Dr. Mahathir, Malaysian Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry. Members of the media also visited the Hitachi booth and conducted interviews with Mr Seiji Yoshimura, Managing Director of Hitachi Asia Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., and Mr Kiyoshi Kinugawa, Chief Executive for Asia, Hitachi, Ltd.
In addition, Hitachi’s uniquely designed booth successfully caught the attention of the judges and was awarded the Best Booth Design Award (1st prize) out of 618 booths.
