Hitachi Automotive Systems Announces to Take Place
Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Plant
in the Republic of Indonesia
Bekasi, February 17, 2015 — Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd. and Hitachi Automotive Systems Asia, Ltd., one of the Hitachi Automotive Systems group companies and the regional headquarters for Asia, today announced that they held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday February 17, for a new plant of PT Hitachi Automotive Systems Indonesia established in November 2014 in the Republic of Indonesia.
Hitachi Automotive Systems group is continuing to move forward with the global expansion of its automotive components and systems business. Hitachi Automotive Systems has been accelerating its business strategy of local production for local consumption to provide its worldwide customers with a prompt response to their needs, and as part of that strategy had been considering establishing a manufacturing base in Indonesia which has the largest automobile market in ASEAN.
The further expansion of the automobile market is expected in Indonesia backed by population of the fourth place of the world. As for its automobile sales of 2014, two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles recorded 7.86 and 1.21 million units respectively. For automotive manufacturers, this has become an increasingly important strategic region. In order to further strengthen its local support to automotive manufacturers, Hitachi Automotive Systems decided to build the new plant in Indonesia.
In addition to Hitachi Automotive Systems and Hitachi Automotive Systems Asia, PT. Dirgantara Mitramahardi has a capital participation, promoting the smooth business operations of Hitachi Automotive Systems Indonesia.
Hitachi Automotive Systems Indonesia will construct the new plant on a 55,000㎡site located in the Greenland International Industrial Center in Bekasi, West Jawa, and plan to start operation of the new plant in summer 2016.
