On 23 September 2015, Hitachi held its second media tie-up event with Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. (Nikkei BP) entitled “Asia Smart City Summit”. The second of a three-part media collaboration, this event was held in Hotel Mulia Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Organised by Nikkei BP, and co-organised by Indonesia’s local newspaper, Bisnis Indonesia, and The Overseas Human Resources and Industry Development Association (HIDA), this media tie-up aimed to help the Indonesia Government and local key stakeholders to better understand Hitachi’s Social Innovation Business.

The event consisted of a conference session and networking reception which was attended by 150 participants from various government bodies, developers, general constructors, and IT companies etc. During the conference, Mr Hirohiko Morisaki, Managing Director of Hitachi Asia Ltd., gave a presentation on Hitachi’s Social Innovation Business. This was followed by a lecture by Mr Takuya Yamakawa, President Director of PT Hitachi Asia Indonesia, on Hitachi’s solutions for urban development in Indonesia. He spoke on Hitachi’s monorail technology and its proven delivery records in various parts of the world. As part of Mr Yamakawa’s presentation, Mr Masaya Kato from Hitachi Data Systems and Mr Koji Hachiya from PT Hitachi Plant Technologies Indonesia also presented on Hitachi’s security solutions and energy solutions respectively.  An exclusive exhibition area was set up to introduce Hitachi’s superior technology, products, and solutions.

Through this event, Hitachi successfully promoted its Social Innovation Business and commitment to the Indonesia market, and much positive feedback was obtained for Hitachi’s presentations as well as the exhibition. Good networking opportunities with local key stakeholders were also observed, including many interests and queries from guests. Notable guests at the event included Ir. H. Tengku Erry Nuradi, Vice Governor of State of Medan and Mr Kuswardono, MCM, Director for Center of Urban Development, Regional Infrastructure Development Agency, Ministry of Public Works.

Through this media collaboration, Hitachi hopes to further increase its presence and establish a stronger foundation in the country so as to expand its Social Innovation Business in ASEAN.
