Opening Ceremony of Hitachi Asia Ltd.’s Yangon Branch Office

Singapore, 29 January 2013 – Hitachi Asia Ltd. today announced the opening ceremony of the Yangon Branch of Hitachi Asia (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in the city of Yangon, Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Held on January 28, the ceremony was attended by close to 300 distinguished guests. They include General Myint Swe, Yangon Region Chief Minister and Hitachi Executives – Mr. Kazuhiro Mori, Executive Vice President and Executive Officer, Hitachi, Ltd. and Mr. Kiyoshi Kinugawa, Chief Executive for Asia, Hitachi, Ltd.

In November 2012, Hitachi established its branch office in Yangon in order to continue exploring potential business opportunities for the ‘Social Innovation Business’ that it is promoting globally. Hitachi has long contributed to the development of social infrastructure in Myanmar. Notably, the company has supplied power generation equipment to local power plants since the 1950s. At the same time, the group aims to contribute to the sustainable growth of Myanmar.
