Be PDPA compliant through data loss prevention

Data breaches or loss is among the top concerns of organizations. Just one incident can create massive impact involving financial loss and worst yet, loss of customer confidence.

The rippling effect is that customers’ personal data may be compromised, which in turn, may lead to significant damage.

According to Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), organizations need to be accountable towards individuals by preventing, managing and notifying the Personal Data Protection Commission and affected individuals of data breaches.

What measures can you take to keep your network and IT systems protected from intruders? How can you protect information that is being transmitted, especially with more people working remotely? What’s the best way to ensure PDPA compliance?

Like the saying goes, prevention is better than cure. Hitachi has solutions to prevent data loss while letting your business run smoothly.

Key Features

One of the most critical things in preventing data loss is to ensure that information is kept confidential and that information is not altered when being sent. With JP1/Hibun, organizations can encrypt files which can only be decrypted with specified company systems or removable devices.

To prevent unauthorized information transference, JP1/Hibun and JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 (JP1/ITDM2) enable organizations to set parameters and restrictions on devices.

Only authorized removable devices, including USBs and smartphones, may be permitted for use. These devices can also be set to only be able to be connected to the Internet through company-controlled networks only to eliminate the risk of data loss.

All organization-managed PCs can also be managed remotely through JP1/ITDM2. Management of these devices include the monitoring of usage logs of systems for unauthorized activities and malware detection as well as the push of updated security software into devices when required.

Such measures help secure the organization’s data through the prevention of unauthorized information flow out of the organization and potential malware in to the organization’s networks.

JP1/WFH enables remote connectivity that lets IT support staff send and receive required data to and from employees’ PC for easier troubleshooting, increasing employee productivity.

Create and view reports in various formats, using bar graphs, broken line graphs, lists, tables, and more. You can also overlap them to create hybrid reports, which are useful especially during data analysis or determining the correlations and trends emerging from different sets of data.

It is a constant challenge for the system to continue accumulating and managing operational data, as well as making effective use of this ever-increasing volume of data. JP1 can help by automatically aggregating your data by the minute, hour, day, week, month, or year. This aggregation of data allows you to assess how your system has changed over time, eliminating the reliance on guesswork during capacity planning. By specifying the amount of time for which the aggregated data is to be retained, you can strike a balance between continuous monitoring and the amount of disk space occupied by records.
